Foundational Wisdom of the Temple
Our Creed
A. Beyond the heart of the eternal cosmos lies the transcendent, ineffable One, the Ultimate Source without beginning, Wonder of Wonders, the Thrice Unknown Darkness.
B. In this unknowable One, Another arises, the One-Being, Monad, Essence of Being whence all Being stems, the Paradigm upon which the Demiurge modelled creation.
C. This triadic One is the Good; it produces and guides all life, and all life moves toward it and strives for it.
D. The Paradigm was Aion, the three motionless moments of Eternity, the Source of Being, Life, and Intellect—Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.
E. The Divine Mind arising thence contemplated the Divine Paradigm within Itself, and It beheld the potential It would mould like clay.
F. The Mind emanated its Creative Power as the Demiurge, directing Its Forms into Matter to form the heavenly cosmos, breathing spirit into the clay, hurling lightning bolts into the stormy chaos, shining like the sun into the world, implanting Its seed into the Womb, which nourished and sustained the spirit, giving birth to the Heavens. Goodness shone like light through the prism of Its own Mind and separated Its light into the manifold display of the heavenly Gods, and every perfect God shining in the cosmos leads back to the One whence It came.
G. The Good reached down into matter through the hands of one of the heavenly Gods. He imitated the creation of His Father, reflected it into His own image and made a new series of Gods, and became the Father of change, producing our generative cosmos under the domain of the Moon, operating the wheel of division and restoration, managing the self-purifying and self-elevating mechanism of the cosmos. Thus did the Spiritual Sun shine forth the Celestial Sun who illuminates our world.
H. The angels and daimons relay, administer, and operate the realms, and the souls of the pure exist in heavenly bliss and are available to guide us to heroic perfection.
I. Human souls, having fallen from their divine state into reincarnation, traverse this world for many lifetimes in pursuit of purification, remembrance, return. We are mediators between the divine and physical realms, guardian-stewards of the earth, and we work toward final reunion with our Divine Good.
J. The Art of the Most High is achieved by the unified manifold in Harmonia, His Logos ordering it, and His Love urging, uplifting, and perfecting it. Each separation is divinely ordained and by its divine origin possesses a profound dignity. The observation of this dignity through reverence and goodwill in all our acts secures Justice among men and bids us worship the gods.
K. Only virtue brings Beauty and happiness, teaching us what is truly pleasing and worthy, whereas self-magnification is folly.
L. So the Good ushered forth life before Mind arose, and Mind gave it order before Body arose, the abstract Gods being more real than concrete matter.
M. And as the Intelligent Mind gave order, so It works in us and establishes Hierarchy among men.
N. Thus what the Gods and their angels establish in nature and the daimons maintain and operate, Man should observe lest he perish, for only by regarding Truth may we secure Goodness and enjoy Beauty.
O. So authority comes to the reverent soul who loves the Gods, extols Their virtues, and follows the Way of Nature. He finds willing subordinates and helps others uncomprehending.
P. So does true religion order, edify, enlighten, and establish the natural law among men.
Q. That the peace of the Gods comes only to those nations who found themselves on divine adoration, and that without the law, there is no freedom.
R. To this end is all true religion directed and can only benefit by shared interest.
S. To relay and realize this wisdom, the Temple of the Hermetic One has established itself with a priesthood from East to West with the goals: restore, provide, foster, enlighten, labor, order, enshrine, coordinate, develop, promote, protect, overcome—
T. Restore true religion and provide teaching and rites;
U. Foster our communities and enlighten their thought process;
V. Labor to restore order and enshrine our religious legacy, the true teachings of all ages;
W. Coordinate between legitimate religious traditions to promote worthy ones and develop practices and thought;
X. Protect the interests of pagans throughout the world and overcome the errors and violence wrought by Abraham.
Y. These truths alone we hold to be infallible and binding forever, and all men shall be subject to scrutiny, and all decisions, to appeal.
Z. But may we follow the best authority confidently and work always towards our hastening to undiminishable peace in divine perfection.
